North Star Anglers is a fishing channel run by Scott Arndt in Jordan, Minnesota. This policy explains what information is collected on northstaranglers.com, through the North Star Anglers email list, and by NSA Publisher, the private tool North Star Anglers uses to post its own videos. The short version: we collect very little, we never sell it, and you can ask for it to be deleted at any time.
What we collect
Your email address, if you sign up for the free decision trees. The signup form sends your email to Kit (kit.com), the service that runs our email list. We use it to send the decision trees and occasional fishing emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Kit's privacy policy is at kit.com/privacy.
Emails you send us. If you email scott@northstaranglers.com, we keep your message and address so we can reply.
Basic visit logs. The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) and measures page-load speed to run and protect the site. We don't use advertising trackers or analytics cookies on this site.
Anonymous visit counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages and links get used, so we know what's helpful. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across other sites and doesn't identify you personally. Cloudflare's privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Other services the site uses
Some parts of the site load from other companies, which may receive your IP address when your browser contacts them:
- Google Fonts for the site's fonts.
- YouTube for video thumbnails, and the YouTube Data API to show the channel's public subscriber count and latest videos. This uses only public channel data, never your account. See the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Affiliate links on the gear page (Amazon Associates, Awin for Piscifun, and Mule Fishing). If you click one, that company may set its own cookies to credit the sale. North Star Anglers may earn a commission; we don't receive any of your personal information from them.
- The merch shop at northstaranglers.printify.me is run by Printify, under Printify's own privacy policy.
NSA Publisher and Google user data
NSA Publisher is a private tool used only by North Star Anglers to upload and schedule videos to the North Star Anglers YouTube channel. It isn't offered to the public, and only the channel owner signs in to it.
- What it accesses: with the channel owner's permission, it uses the YouTube Data API to upload videos, set their titles, descriptions, thumbnails and schedule, and read the channel's own basic details to confirm it is posting to the right channel.
- What it stores: only the sign-in token Google issues, saved on the channel owner's own computer. It doesn't collect, store or share any data about viewers or other YouTube users.
- Sharing: Google user data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.
- Revoking access: access can be removed at any time from Google account permissions.
NSA Publisher's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. By using YouTube features, users agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
How long we keep it
Email list addresses stay on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to reply. Server logs are kept by Netlify under its own retention rules.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom, or email scott@northstaranglers.com to see, correct or delete the information we have about you. We'll answer within 30 days.
Kids
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
